Course Introduction
The ISEB (Independent Schools Examination Board) Pre-Assessment test is now widely used by the UK's leading Independent Schools to assess the suitability of students. The test is used by schools to assess students at 11+, 12+ and occasionally 13+ entry.
The test is split into 4 key areas: English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning and the test takes approximately 21/2 hours to complete. Academic Asia is an accredited centre for ISEB test administration and so students may also sit their final assessment with us.
Large parts of the ISEB assessment are not taught as part of a normal HK school curriculum and specific preparation is therefore strongly recommended for this important assessment. A list of UK schools that use the ISEB pre-assessment can be found by clicking here.
Course Content
Whilst each course is designed to focus on a student's key areas for development, each course will also cover the following key areas:
English
A strong focus on advanced grammar (e.g. subjunctive verbs, modal verbs) extended vocabulary and the history of words (etymology)
Mathematics
Advanced topics including: inequalities, two unknowns, compound probability, the Nth term and complex sequences.
Verbal Reasoning
Statement logic, extended vocabulary/synonyms, code-solving.
Non-Verbal Reasoning
3D shapes and rotations, following folds, 3D nets and matrices.
